You are missing the point. This is a case study about how the use of viral media shifted the debate and enabled activists to win a war with the press. This has lessons outside of politics. In any case, I think Fox is the whiner here. They got smacked down.

As Bill Mahr said on Larry King (paraphrasing), "If they can't stand up to Brit Hume, how are they going to make people believe they're equipped to stand up to Osama Bin Laden?"

Bill Mahr missed the point. The point is, if Fox can't give their time away to a bunch of publicity hungry politicians, why should anyone pay for it?

The flip side to that theory isn't that they're merely publicity hungry politicians, but fragile frauds who cannot withstand the criticism that the rest of the media hurl at their GOP counterparts at every other debate.
Even with this debacle (on whose side is still up for debate), FNC still outperforms the other cable news channels. All this does is solidify their reputation (among their base audience) as a hard-hitting news organization.
"See? The Democrats are running scared!"
It's a disgrace. The candidates ought not be running scared... that is... if they have actual constructive ideas to advance.

Again with the false premise that ALL the other media outlets are biased against the GOP. That's ridiculous.

I didn't say all.. Just CNN, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, and ABC. Talk radio is pretty much in the pocket of the GOP... But even they are turning against the GOP on illegal immigration and a few other issues... Locally, they're pretty much in lockstep against Perry.
